Mission & Strategy
INSAS is the official film, television and drama school of the French-speaking Community of Belgium. It was founded in 1962 and provides training in all crafts of the film industry and theatre.
While French speaking Belgium is a small community of 4.5 million people INSAS has gained over the years a truly international reputation thanks to the quality of its teaching and its unfailing pursuit of excellence. The main features of the school’s philosophy are openness, perpetual self-reassessment, critical look at the world and emphasis on the responsibility of the creative person.
The school welcomes students from all walks of life, social condition and origin who are admitted after they have satisfied a number of stringent tests.
The school’s faculty are experienced technicians / artists whose active connections with the industry guarantee that all students are trained to the most exacting standards of the professional world. Another key feature of INSAS is the emphasis laid on critical thinking with students being encouraged to question the nature of their work and the media generally. Team work is at all times privileged. Classes are kept small – with a maximum of 15 students – teaching is based on the conservatory model with direct interaction between the learner and the teacher.
