Zawawa is a multidisciplinary collaboration structured around the evocation of the sonic remembrances of islanders who we interviewed, reminiscences which span back through accounts of contemporary US military presence to the Battle of Okinawa (the last major encounter of World War Two and one of its bloodiest) and which enable a listening to the mingling of natural and human life in the public memory of the Pacific war.
