Major Achievements: For over a decade Merlin has worked as an award winning director, designer, editor and visual effects supervisor. In recognition of this he received the 2004 Young Filmmaker of the Year award, been nominated for 3 AFI awards for his editing work on Stump, Jack and The Turning and has won St Kilda Film Festival awards in editing for Transmission and Stump. Longer form dramatic editing work has included the features Last Train to Freo, Teesh & Trude and feature documentaries Kuru: The Science and the Sorcery, Girt By Sea, Yagan and Prison Songs, many of which have been awarded and critically acclaimed. In regards specifically to animation, at 25, Merlin was both concurrently editing, designing visual fx and post supervising the 26 x episode intentional co-production of Dogstar (Series 1&2). He has worked on the animated series QUADS!, the stop-motion shorts Cedric and Hope and Edison and was sent to China by the Western Australian Government to be part of an animation delegation to further co-productions in the region. Most recently Merlin designed the opening titles to the feature These Final Hours and is currently co-director of Siamese, a production company in Perth that specialises in post-production. He is in pre-production as writer/director on his own CGI animated short The Wooden Boy.
