Mission & Strategy

UTS Media Arts and Production was founded in 1986. It was one of the first media arts and production-focused communication degrees in Australia and is known for its focus on social justice, scholarship, experimentation and excellence. Designed for people passionate about film, filmmaking, and media production, Media Arts and Production at UTS equips students with the practical production skills and research-driven conceptual backing needed to enter and lead the creative industries with a competitive edge. Its hands-on, theory-integrated courses are designed and taught by leading practitioners in the Australian film and television industry.
Located in the creative precinct of inner-city Sydney, Media Arts and Production (MAP) at UTS introduces its students to life-long creative partnerships within a cohort of like-minded practitioners, whilst encouraging them to define and develop their creative vision. Students learn contemporary facets of media production, alongside classic techniques and concepts rooted in the foundation of cinema and storytelling.
