Mission & Strategy
The core of Westerdal's Department of Film and Media is audiovisual communication and storytelling, with research, development and production in focus. The department is based on audiovisual storytelling, with a wide range of genres and narrative forms. It maintains a close relation to the audiovisual industry through guest lectures and visiting professionals, internships and other collaborative programs. The program also fosters strong entrepreneurial skills and students work artistically and conceptually with ideas together with the audience and users as a target group.
The department currently offers six different BA programs. Several new and innovative MA-programs are currently in development with a target start-up in fall 2023.
Westerdal's Department of Film and Media is organized under the School of Arts, Design and Media (SADM) at Kristiania University College and works closely with SADMs three other departments, Department of Performing Arts, Department of Music, and Westerdals Department of Creativity, Storytelling and Design. This exceptional plurality of artistic genres offers the film and media students unique possibilities for interdisciplinary experimentation and innovation within their fields. Westerdal's Department of Film and Media thus offers strong and future oriented perspectives to the audiovisual art and industry, with up-to-date, relevant and innovative professional education in focus.
